The Quartermaster truck indicates the truck functions of the Regiment, and the compass card symbolizes the ability to perform allotted duties at all four points of the compass. The color red is added for design and denotes the martial prowess of the organization. The motto is expressive of the continuous service rendered.

Brick red and golden yellow are the colors traditionally associated with Transportation units. The tower denotes the unit's campaign participation in Central Europe. The fleur-de-lis refers the campaign in Northern France. The scimitars represent the Meritorious Unit Commendations awarded to the unit for service in Southwest Asia.
The coat of arms was originally approved for the 49th Quartermaster Truck Regiment on 27 January 1943. It was redesignated for the 49th Quartermaster Battalion (Mobile) on 15 April 1944. It was rescinded on 1 November 1962. The insignia was reinstated, redesignated for the 49th Transportation Battalion and amended to include a crest on 16 November 1999.
